Where a Lifelong Love of Music Begins

At Kingsway School of Music, we believe music education should be more than learning how to play an instrument.

It should build confidence, curiosity, creativity, discipline, and a genuine love of music that can last a lifetime.

Located in Toronto's west end, Kingsway School of Music has grown into a vibrant community where hundreds of students—from babies experiencing music for the first time to advanced musicians and adults returning to an instrument they once loved—come together to learn, create and perform.
More Than Music Lessons

Every student's musical journey is different.

Some will pursue examinations and advanced study. Some will join bands, choirs and ensembles. Some will perform on stage. Others will simply discover the joy of sitting at a piano, picking up a guitar, or making music with friends.

We believe there is room for all of those journeys.

Our role is to give students the skills, confidence and musical foundation to discover where music can take them.
That's why our programs combine strong musical education with an environment that is welcoming, engaging and deeply personal.

Music Education From the Very Beginning
One of the things that makes Kingsway School of Music unique is our belief that meaningful music education can begin remarkably early.

Our youngest students start making music as babies.

Through our progressive early-years curriculum, children move from experiencing rhythm, movement and live music with a parent to exploring the piano, understanding musical patterns, developing fine-motor skills and eventually beginning to read, play and perform music independently.

As they grow, students can continue into more advanced group programs, private instruction, ensembles, examinations and performance opportunities.
Real Teachers. Real Instruments. Real Music.

Technology has changed how children learn, but we believe there is something irreplaceable about making music with another human being.

Our students learn from professional musicians and dedicated educators who bring their own experience, personality and artistry into the classroom.

They play real instruments.

They listen to live music.

They make music with other people.

And they learn that music isn't something that simply comes through a screen—it is something they can create themselves.

A School Built Around Community
Music is meant to be shared.

Performance has therefore always been an important part of the Kingsway experience—not because every child needs to become a concert musician, but because performing teaches students something powerful.

It teaches them to prepare.

To persevere.

To manage nervousness.

To stand in front of others with confidence.

And, eventually, to feel proud of what they have accomplished.

Throughout the year, our students have opportunities to participate in concerts, ensembles, community performances and special events. These experiences bring students, teachers and families together and turn a collection of individual lessons into a genuine musical community.
A Team of Musicians and Educators
Kingsway is not built around a single teacher or a single way of teaching.

Our faculty brings together professional musicians and educators from diverse musical backgrounds and specialties. Students benefit from the expertise of teachers across piano, strings, guitar, voice, drums, woodwinds, brass and other areas of music education.
Behind our teaching faculty is a team dedicated to supporting families, developing programs, organizing performances and creating an experience that extends far beyond the weekly lesson.

Together, we share one goal

To give every student an exceptional musical education while helping them develop a lifelong relationship with music.

Our Story

Kingsway School of Music began with a simple belief: children are capable of far more musically than we sometimes expect when they are given the right environment, the right teacher and the opportunity to begin early.

What started as a small teaching studio grew through word of mouth, one family at a time.

As more students joined, new teachers came on board. New instruments and programs were introduced. Concerts became larger. Early-years programs developed into a complete curriculum. And a small studio gradually became the musical community that Kingsway is today.

Despite that growth, the philosophy at the heart of the school has remained the same.

Every student matters.

Every teacher matters.

And every musical beginning—whether it is a baby's first experience hearing a piano or a student's first major performance—deserves to be meaningful.
Music That Reaches Beyond Our Walls
We also believe access to music should extend beyond families who are able to attend a traditional music school.
That belief inspired the creation of the Music for Love Foundation, a registered charity dedicated to expanding access to music education and musical experiences within the broader community.

Through community partnerships and outreach initiatives, music reaches children, schools, community organizations and older adults who might otherwise have limited access to it.

Because when music becomes part of a community, its impact extends far beyond the classroom.
The Next Chapter
Kingsway School of Music continues to evolve.

We continue developing curriculum, training educators, creating new programs and finding better ways to introduce children to music.
But growth for us isn't simply about becoming bigger.

It's about becoming better at what we believe music education can be.

A place where exceptional teaching and joyful learning belong together.

A place where students are challenged without losing their love of music.

A place where families feel part of something.

And a place where a child's first note can become the beginning of a lifelong relationship with music.
