Peter Klaassen B.Mus.

Peter Klaassen is a double bassist and educator with a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto and nine years of teaching experience. He performs regularly in Americana, bluegrass, folk, and classical settings, bringing a broad stylistic perspective to his work with students.

Peter’s teaching centres on musical fluency: building technique and ear-training skills so students can confidently understand and explore the music they love. He encourages students to listen closely to the feedback they receive from their ears, bodies, and musical instincts, supporting growth that is both technical and artistic. Because music study can be challenging and deeply
personal, Peter takes time to understand each student’s interests, motivations, and creative goals. He hopes students develop consistent habits of playing, listening, and ear training that foster curiosity, self-expression, and a lifelong relationship with music.
