Humberto Ramirez B.Mus. M.Mus Ph.D

Violin, Viola, Ensembles

Humberto Ramirez is an accomplished violinist, educator, and academic leader with more than 30 years of teaching experience. He holds a Master of Music from Indiana University Bloomington and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Canada. His teaching combines strong technical foundations with a supportive and collaborative environment where students feel
comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking ownership of their learning.

Humberto adapts each lesson to the student’s abilities, learning style, interests, and goals, with a focus on discipline, listening skills, confidence, independence, and musical expression. Throughout his career, Humberto has served as Dean and Director of Music at Universidad del Norte, coordinated the Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de Barranquilla, and led academic, artistic, and community initiatives. He also developed a large-scale string pedagogy program that trained undergraduate music students as teachers and introduced more than 150 children to string instruments, contributing to the creation of children’s string orchestras.

Through violin, viola, and ensemble instruction, Humberto hopes to inspire a genuine love of music while helping students develop patience, curiosity, and the confidence to work through challenges.
